Alcohol by far...there has never been a known case where someone has died directly due to the use of Marijuana, however; Alcohol related deaths are very common.
definately alcohol. Put a group of people in a room who are drinking.. Theres every chance in 2/3 hours a fight could start. Put a group of people in a room smoking marijuana and 2/3 hours later they will either be deep in meaningful conversation or asleep.
Alcohol is by far worse.
Marijuana is the reason my life went back on track. As a former Army airborne infantryman I used to drink everyday just to feel normal, despite the problems that where happening everyday. After i first used marijuana the benefits far surpass it's dangers. It cured my insomnia, Got me out of a clinical and suicidal depression, helped me with my chronic back pain, increased my sexual potency and desire, and made me look on life at a different view. I can also safely use a car after using marijuana, and not worry about a dwi, that in my field of work would make me a regular jobless bum. My first experience with marijuana was over-whelming, i was very impaired and unable to even walk normal, and i experienced memory loss and blackouts, but after several weeks of marijuana use i am able to do anything i can do without it's use. Marijuana also put a toll on my social life, i wasted more money on marijuana then i do on alcohol. With marijuana abuse your risks are far less severe then with alcohol abuse.
I Believe the use of marijuana can lead to many great benefits and a better life, and at the same time abuse can lead to health problems and financial crisis. Just like with any drug, marijuana should be legalized and controlled like alcohol and cigarettes.
If you are abusing marijuana or alcohol and believe you may need help you can email me personally anytime at undergroundman@optonline.net I can help advise you on marijuana safety/mental addiction, and abuse.
Alcohol is by far the more dangerous substance in my mind.
You MIGHT smoke marijuana and end up in a situation where you slightly diminished reaction times could put you in harms way. There are technically ways that it might be dangerous, but they are pretty rare. Usually, when someone smokes too much pot they say, "I am really high...I'll just sit right here."
Alcohol, on the other hand, is very easy to to overdo and the more you drink the less you want to admit your a drunk. The more you drink the worse your decisions, choices, and behavior seem to get. If you want to be sure to do something extremely stupid or dangerous then drinking an excess of alcohol is a surefire way to get it accomplished.
A true alcoholic is neigh incapacitated; but as a frequent pot smoker I still find time to get to work and school.
I think alchohol is more dangerous. When you drink you do stupid things and drive fast. When you smoke weed you sit around and listen to music and you drive slowly thinking you are driving fast.
alcohol is worse
alcohol
It seems to me that alcohol is.
+5
Alchohol.
Marijuana's more expensive though.
your call.
I've always thought alcohol is worse than drugs, because it's generally much more available to people, thus more can get addicted.
Most people drink some alcohol, so there's always the risk they'll become dependent on it, wheras less people take drugs as regularly as they drink, so I think the danger of becoming addicted is slightly reduced with marijuana.
alcohol is a hundred times worse.. It turns me into retardo-man 5000, weed makes me think harder and deeper.. alcohol makes me want more alcohol, weed makes me wnt to sleep before I smoke more.. Alcohol makes me have sex wihout a condom, weed makes me put 2 condoms on.. Alcohol makes me tune music out, weed makes me stay in sync with the music and understand it.. alcohol makes me hurt myself, weed makes me enjoy myself.. a 20 dollar bottle doesn't last as long as a 20 dollar bag.. alcohol gives me a day long hangover, weed gives me an hour of munchies and gettin tired.. alcohol is bad, weed is good, plus weed tastes a few thousand times better than ANY alcohol, except mikes hard lemonade..
Absolutely Alcohol.
I'd preffer marijuana...it goves you the ACTIVE-HIGH;)
• marijuana is non-toxic
• alcohol is toxic
choose your poison.. or herb
alcohol is by far worse and shouldn't even be allowed. i mean come on, how many accidents are caused each year by drunk drivers???? tons is the answer. marijuana is by far more safe and calms you down instead of make you do dumb shit like alcohol...the government knows this but won't do anything about it because the world is a fucked up place. I'm done with this conversation
Medically, it is better than you. No thinking required, here.
Although pot has the tar content of three cigarettes, you (hopefully) use it with less than three times the frequency.
Pot is not addictive. Alcohol is.
Alcohol leads to anger, car accidents, and alcohol poisoning.
Pot doesn't lead to anger, I'm not sure about car accidents, and it's almost impossible to OD on.
The health impact of any drug depends on how it's used, who's using it, how much is used, and under what circumstances. Marijuana and alcohol are no exception, so comparing them directly is difficult – each possesses the potential for unique risks or benefits. One major difference worth noting is that it isn't possible to overdose on marijuana, while lots of alcohol in a brief period of time can lead to alcohol poisoning, an emergency medical condition that can be fatal. Marijuana is infact used for certain medical conditions, such as glaucoma, marijuana possesses therapeutic properties.
Well you can die from alcohol poisoning....and as much as some people have tried convincing others, you cannot die from smoking too much pot. When you smoke too much, you may throw up and pass out, and that's not fun either, but at least you don't have to have your stomach pumped at the E.R. plus, marijuana has some great effects on the bedy. It is a nausea reliever, an expectorant, and it lowers blood pressure just to name a couple. Booze has a coupla things going for it but not near as many.
A drug, is a drug is a DRUG!
Alcohol 100%. Marijuana doesn't kill people long term. There are NO documented proof of any death using marijuana. Alcohol you can OD, die from Sorosis of the liver, die from a car accident, or a pedestrian. My Aunt was killed by a drunk driver. She was on a Harley and a drunk driver hit them. After she came to a stop on the highway, she wasn't dead yet. She tryed to moved to safety, then another car ran her over. Alcohol is BY FAR THE WORST!
both are great.
alcohol is worse, never mind liver and other problems it causes but u cant drive at all and besides that u can dehydrate from drinking 2much or OD, and dont fall asleep on yur back or u 4 sure will drowned on yur own vomit. Or u can smoke a joint feel great n live another day, but maybe 50 tears u will have lung cancer but not exactly from mari jane prolly from microwaveable popcorn chemicals.

bottom line...if you smoke a quarter ounce by yourself in the space of an evening... your pretty goddamn stupid and deserve what happens to you, if you drink a 40 pounder to your face in the space of an evening...you're pretty goddamn stupid. the point is that a drug is only as bad as the dumbass that needs convincing that pot is ok
i believe alcohol.done many stupid things while drinking.the dumbest was 4 years ago, that's when i quit.i still smoke, never did any-thing dangerous while high.kids, stay away from all of it. nothing but trouble. no matter what your friends may say.at least wait until you are older.
alcohal.
Alcohol is by far worse than weed...as a frequent smoker, i find that weed actually helps me concentrate on the things i need to concentrate on. i dont get distracted easy.
stumbling around drunk is no way to live so.......gett_HiGh!! lol
thats not even a question. weed isn't addictive, it doesn't kill brain cells, it doesn't make u stupid, it lowers ur blood pressure, and it doesn't cause cancer. theres actually nothing bad about weed.
Alcohol by far...there has never been a known case where someone has died directly due to the use of Marijuana, however; Alcohol related deaths are very common.
honestly im pro for both but alcohol is way worse it really changes your thaought pattern like if your angry it will you make worse if sad it will really put you down etc. with your emotions but smokin pot just makes you happy
there has never been a death related to the use of marijuana so smoke it all you want and alcohol related deaths are in the millions every year
i find it funny they labeled this as "drugs and alchohol" when alchohol is a drug. Marijuana has so many benefits and is by far safer, it is IMPOSSIBLE to overdose from pot, and it doesnt destroy your liver and your mind like alchohol
Alcohol! While marijuana does have some risks, I have never heard of anyone becoming violent while under the influence of marijuana, nor have I ever heard of anyone dying from a marijuana overdose. Alcohol often causes violent behavior, and many, many people have died from an overdose of alcohol.
I guess my answer would be marijuana because most people that smoke pot usually just get stoned & stupid & want to mellow out & eat. However when people get drunk they want to drive or fight & hurt other people. If I had to pick between the lesser of the 2 evils I guess it would be pot.
Neither for me , thank goodness
Alcohol definitely affect OTHERS health more than marijuana, how many people cross lanes of traffic when they're high? I don't even like to leave the house
Alcohol is worse
Alcohol. Unless you have genes for being schizophrenic then I would suggest you stay far away from both.
alcohol by far
alcohol by farr
Alcohol, drunk drivers kill Innocent people =)
It appears that when it comes to teen brain development, parents should be more worried about alcohol abuse than marijuana abuse. Two recent studies have been published showing that alcohol -- a legal substance (though not legal for teens in the U.S.) -- is considered more dangerous than marijuana, which is illegal in many countries.
Adolescence is a unique period in neurodevelopment. Alcohol and marijuana use are common. Recent research has indicated that adolescent substance users show abnormalities on measures of brain functioning, which is linked to changes in neurocognition over time. Abnormalities have been seen in brain structure volume, white matter quality, and activation to cognitive tasks, even in youth with as little as 1-2 years of heavy drinking and consumption levels of 20 drinks per month, especially if > 4-5 drinks are consumed on a single occasion. Heavy marijuana users show some subtle anomalies too, but generally not the same degree of divergence from demographically similar non-using adolescents. This article reviews the extant literature on neurocognition, brain structure, and brain function in adolescent substance users with an emphasis on the most commonly used substances, and in the context of ongoing neuromaturational processes. Methodological and treatment implications are provided.
Converging lines of evidence suggest that the hippocampus may be particularly vulnerable to deleterious effects of alcohol and marijuana use, especially during adolescence. The goal of this study was to examine hippocampal volume and asymmetry in adolescent users of alcohol and marijuana. METHODS: Participants were adolescent (aged 15-18) alcohol (ALC) users (n=16), marijuana and alcohol (MJ+ALC) users (n=26), and demographically similar controls (n=21). Extensive exclusionary criteria included prenatal toxic exposure, left handedness, and psychiatric and neurologic disorders. Substance use, cognitive, and anatomical measures were collected after at least 2 days of abstinence from all substances. RESULTS: Adolescent ALC users demonstrated a significantly different pattern of hippocampal asymmetry (p<.05) and reduced left hippocampal volume (p<.05) compared to MJ+ALC users and non-using controls. Increased alcohol abuse/dependence severity was associated with increased right>left (R>L) asymmetry and smaller left hippocampal volumes while marijuana abuse/dependence was associated with increased L>R asymmetry and larger left hippocampal volumes. Although MJ+ALC users did not differ from controls in asymmetry, functional relationships with verbal learning were found only among controls, among whom greater right than left hippocampal volume was associated with superior performance (p<.05). CONCLUSIONS: Aberrations in hippocampal asymmetry and left hippocampal volumes were found for adolescent heavy drinkers. Further, the functional relationship between hippocampal asymmetry and verbal learning was abnormal among adolescent substance users compared to healthy controls. These findings suggest differential effects of alcohol and combined marijuana and alcohol use on hippocampal morphometry and the relationship between hippocampal asymmetry and verbal learning performance among adolescents.
In my opinion, alcohol is far worse than marijuana. I've seen alcohol ruin more lives than I care to think about.
ALCOHOL.
Alcohol is obviously worse.... it leads to physical addiction, where as weed does not, therefor bronwen is very wrong
alcohol is your answer dude.
I'd have to say alcohol...
most people on marijuana just veg and eat.

Alcohol: Calories, liver damage, possible brain damage, possiblility of death caused by excessive drinking, possibility of doing stupid things (I'm on crutches for 5 weeks because I did something stupid while drunk).
Marijuana: Can smell bad, can make people "Wig out", can be trippy, can make one tired, makes my older brother hyper and he then cleans the house (A definate + ), inhaling any smoke can cause lung cancer.
These are the cons for both that I can list off the top of my head, except for the cleaning thing at the end. Also, it is impossible (apparently) to die from smoking too much pot because the smoker just passes out or goes to sleep before anything really bad can happen.

Marijuana impairs judgment and there are many traffic fatalities where the only intoxicant found in the system of the deceased is marijuana so that statement is not entirely true. Marijuana related accidental deaths are quite common.
by Sarah M on March 4th, 2010
@Sarah: I think what the poster means ... (and I agree with) ... no one has died as a DIRECT result of marijuana, like an overdose ... but with alcohol you can die quickly from an overdose or more slowly by destroying your liver ... I agree, people die while driving impaired, but that's more from "poor judgment" than the marijuana itself ... people fall asleep behind the wheel, without any drugs in their system, and crash simply from being too tired, but you can't really say they died from "sleeping" ...
