  • That's still unfair discrimination, if you ask me. And if they live in a state where marriage is legal, then they should be listed as married!
  • I'm happy about it, for reasons you've already seen, and I don't care to get into. Remember, you asked, I answered.
  • Whats DOMA??
  • It is an affront to the states where its citizens have chosen to recognize CU's and gay marriage. DOMA is the Defense of Marriage Act shoved down the throats of the US citizenry by the ultra right religious bigots that run the Republican party. Jess Helms, bless his soul, was the biggest bigot in congress and was not afraid to state it. The DOMA law should be repealed as a violation of civil rights and unconstitutional.
  • Well until LGBT marriages are legalized nationwide I expect we'll continue to see this kind of distinction. It won't change any time soon. We also shouldn't be too surprised that the government would over-complicate paperwork. As to how I feel about it, I'm not as put off by the apparent discrimination against the gay community as I am by the obvious religious and federal assault on and utter disrespect of the laws and people of the individual states. We have separation of church and state, but not church and nation or republic. As a nation we are at the mercy of "the church."
  • I strongly am opposed to this. If you are married in a state were same sex marriage is reconized then the census should count you married.
