I have heard it said these days they are looking for the person who will go the extra mile. Just turning in a resume may not be enough. Try a follow up phone call or stop by and ask when would ba a good time to meet someone who is in charge of hireing. Really going after the job may make the difference (just don't become a stalker)

How long is your actual resume? If it's more than two pages I suggest you limit it to just two, or even one. In today's fast-paced world, people have no time to read such long pieces. Make sure your resume has no spelling or grammatical errors. In that kind of industry, such mistakes are unacceptable. How long have you been sending resumes? You know, job hunting could be a job in itself. Be patient.

The general rule of thumb is harass a potential employer without harassing them. :) Call, follow up your application, ask for someone in charge who directs interviews. Sometimes you really need to show iniative because the HR person, doesn't feel the need to hire as much as the company. Yet you need to do all this at a reasonable length without annoying the hell out of your potential employer.

If you don't have holes in your shoes or sore feet at the end of the day, you just haven't turned over enough cards. If you are looking for work, consider that your job and spend at least 8 hours a day on it. Increase the volume of your contacts and follow-ups. It is a numbers game and you will win if you don't give up. Bigger numbers = more results. Good luck.
