When you cross a street where the traffic's going only one way, do you ever catch yourself looking in both directions, "just in case"?

Yes, and where there are one-way streets here where I live, you would be making a big mistake not to, since wrong way drivers are common.

I do all the time, but I live in a large city and don't really pay attention to traffic signals. I jaywalk and basically am used to looking. I was actually shocked the first time I went to Seattle. People actually wait at the corner for a green/walk light. Seemed very strange to me.

Yes. It takes only a second to look in the direction where a car shouldn't be coming but it could really affect you for a while (or permanently) if you don't look and someone is driving the wrong way.

ALWAYS you cant help it I know you live in the states like me but have you been to England? You dont know what way to look...its so confusing. You naturally look one way and then you have to adjust it accordingly

Yes I always look both ways. With my luck I am the goof that will get hit by a truck going the wrong way in a one way street.:)

Yes, I occasionally see people going the wrong way on the street that's a block from my house, so they don't have to go around the block to get to their house.

Everytime!! The police arrested a drunk for driving the wrong way up my street. Better safe than sorry.

I always do! It would be just my luck that if I don't, that would be the one time some jackass would be driving the wrong way!

I always feel like a goofball for doing it, but I sure do look both ways on a one-way street. I can't help myself, it's so ingrained.

Oh I do it all the time because where I stay there are plenty of cyclist who think traffic rules do not apply to them.

I do that quite alot, after I've crossed I think "One way street you silly fool." I work in a one way street, and alway catch myself doing it.

Absolutely, I look both ways everytime I cross a street. Even if a car isn't coming, something else could be, a bike or something, anything! :)

Actually, impulsive Brian isn't concerned about being caught looking both ways by rational Brian, because we both agree that defensive street crossing is a good way to avoid being run over by a wrong-way driver. :)

Yes. I even look both ways when I'm stopped at a stop sign on a one-way street. Just out of habit I suppose.

i cant stop my self from looking both ways.its just a habit, a really good habit because with my luck i'll get run over my a car going the wrong way.
