  • My 9 year old son went to war with a bookcase and the bookcase won. He had 7 stitches in his forehead.
  • i cut my hand while trying to trim a picture to fit a frame. i have three stitches now.
  • Memorial Day year before last found me in the ER for a sprained lower back. So bad I could not sit down or stand up but was only able to tolerate the pain on laying prone. Not a fun way to spend the holiday.
  • My brother was stung on the lip by a yellow jacket-- which he is allergic to. So while my mother (who is unable to drive) was busy trying to call my dad at work, I was bringing the screaming kid to the emergency room.
  • most recent? hmmm *flipping through memories* probably overdosing.
  • Motor vehicle accident. Some idiot pulled out in front of me and totalled my car.
  • Hmm. That would be the time my brother fought a bunch of idiots trying to defend me. They were trying to get back at him by going after me, and it ended badly for both sides.
  • My wife had two of her finger tips mashed in between a belt and drive at work. She said they looked like spoons when they first came out. Xrays showed 2 broken bones in one finger and one in the other. By the time I'd gotten there (she works overnight - I was called at 5AM), they'd taken the xrays, and she was waiting to find out. The doctor sewed up the cuts, and gave her the name of someone to see. She called, we went (she didn't want to drive), and he said it looked ok, obviously sore, and she'd just need finger guards to protect them, but no floor work for a few weeks (she worked office for a while). Today, she's fine. For me, I apparently had a back spasm, that wouldn't allow me to MOVE easily without pain. I tried for a few days, but finally went in. (Was recovering from knee surgery, and transferring from chair to wheelchair, then to van, and back out to be wheeled in, then back out, then out of van at home, then ... was excruciating EACH time.) I got a shot of something (muscle-relaxer, I believe) that burned like CRAZY, but it was MUCH better in the next few days. Before that (and my only ambulance ride) was when I fell coming in from the garage, slipped and basically sat on my foot. This tore the quad tendon (thigh) from my kneecap. I laid flat while EMTs came, they called the fire department, and they all got me into the ambulance (after holding and loving on our pretty new rat-terrier/spitz mix puppy!) ER didn't see anything and gave me a brace. We ordered a walker, and after a couple of days, I was making it into the bathroom relatively easily. A couple of more days, and I fell again (knee wouldn't hold me). I went to an orthopedic surgeon (two weeks to appointment), he sent me to an MRI (had to do open-sided... hospital's was too small and claustrophobic), then ANOTHER two weeks for him to read them. He sent me to a specialist (another couple of weeks) who scheduled surgery the next week. After fixing it, they put me in an external fixator (think solid towel-rack screwed into thigh and shin-bones). I was in the hospital for a week and rehab center (nursing home) for about a month when it was removed. Then a brace at home in a hospital bed for 6-10 weeks, and starting therapy (stretching/bending it) for most of the rest of the year. Now, 2 years later, I can bend it around 90 degrees and that's IT. I walk with a cane, or ride a mobility scooter (needed for balance, anyway, but...)
  • St. Patrick's Day....kidney stone. They doped me up said it may pass and sent me home. I was back there 12 hours later. They took it out the following day. It was 7 mm. Don't wish that on any one!

  • I was riding a wheelie on a 4-wheeled motorcycle and flipped. I landed on my tail-bone and cracked it. very PAINFUL
  • Sprained a muscle in my back skydiving. The Chief Instructor at the club sent me to casualty to get checked out. 3 days later I was fine. I suppose it is adventurous. It wasn't a bad injury, just got checked out in case anything was really wrong.
  • I started believing in ghosts and god! my aunt thought i was crazy when i showed her the evidence☺
  • bad stomach cramps. worst pain i ever felt. turned out to be gas.
  • Pneumonia.
  • Kidney stone pain that was sent me into convulsions. :

  • Let's see. It was something stupid. Like I was attempting to quickly pull a small chuck of wood away from the blade of my table saw and the teeth barely nicked the end of my thumb. No bone lost, just some fat and tissue (and nail). When you cut your nail short the finger extends beyond the end of the nail, no so on my left thumb. The nail extends the same or further.
  • i collapsed in front of my mother, and she freaked. it didn't help when i said "it's okay, this happens all the time." turned out to be dehydration....
  • I had to take my wife in Cinco De Mayo befor last. She had gone to a work function that turned into a party after. Her and some friends arranged a room at the hotel so they could let their hair down and not have to drive the 20 miles home. After the bowling tourniment they all ended up drinking wine in the bar. Suddenly, she was attacked by a rouge conga line and "forced" to conga.. After a few steps the wine kicked in and she fell off of her 4 inch heels. She assumed she had twisted her ankle, got back up and hobbled to the table. She sat for a while and went to dance. Her ankle hurt, but she was assured by her friends that "If you can stand on it it isn't broken" They closed the bar, she limped to her room and went to bed. The next day she woke up and couldn't stand to get dressed. She called me to come and get her. I then took her to the ER where the found out she had broken one ankle and severly sprained the other. She ended up in a wheelchair for a month and a cast for 2 more months.
  • The only times I have been in the emergency room in the past few years is with other people. I cannot remember a time when it was for me.
  • Me personally was many years ago for pneumonia. My most recent visits have been about my 94 year old MIL.
  • hummm... last trip to the emergency room, that was... 3 weeks ago i think... i passed out at the top of some stairs, popped some old stitches on the way down and cracked my head open at the bottom... my friends and i only noticed all the blood about five minuets later when i passed out again due to blood loss... oops! but i think i'll be back there in a few hours... i think i've broken my arm again!
  • Got hit by a car while riding my bike to work.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • My ex-partner was severly depressed and tried to OD on pills. (When I say ex...we were in the process of splitting at the time but still in the same house).
  • A sprained ankle.
  • My young daughter swallowed a glass decorative pebble that looked like candy she said. It got stuck in her throat and in a panic, I drove her to the emergency room. All's well, it finally passed....literally!
  • ill fated sky diving adventure :)
  • Appendicitis attack and had to miss a whole week of school! But three out of those five days I spent at the hospital!
  • I haven't been to the emergency room since I was about 10 or 11, and that's when I woke up in the middle of the night and could barely breathe. I was diagnosed with acute Asthma later that evening. It's much better now, though. =)
  • Norovirus. Very very nasty GI bug. I was a medical resident at the time, so I just crawled (almost literally) down to the ER at the hospital where I worked. By the time I got there, my heart rate was in the 150's and my blood pressure was in the low 100's. They plugged in an IV of fluids, I pulled the covers up over my head, and they left me alone for a few hours. I felt much better after that!
  • Gall Bladder attack. They did surgery and its gone now.
  • hey rick! got some stitches in my hand sawing limbs off a tree, the saw slipped and sawed the wrong limb! ;) lol!
  • I've never been for myself, but when I was about 11 my sister dislocated her knee at a dance practice. The paramedic said it was the farthest dislocated knee she'd ever seen in her life. I ALMOST had to for myself when my shoulder dislocated about 2 months ago. It hurt like crazy, but I already knew it was messed up from something else and I was so focused on getting to my job and working that I didn't actually notice until a coworker noticed about 6 hours into my shift (it was a VERY busy day). I convinced them to help me reset it, which also killed, but it was better than going to an ER at 10 at night... though the rest of my coworkers thought I was nuts. Guess what? So do I :P
  • It was a "woman" thing....cost me over $2500.00...I am one of those uninsured people....so they get a couple $s every month....and by the time it is paid off....I may be dead.....LOL
  • Well, it wasn't a trip for me... My best friend was at work, when she started having chest pains, and shortness of breath. I took her to the ER, and waited with her for a few hours while they did some tests. Fortunately, it wasn't serious, and they released her :)
  • About 5 months ago I got into a four wheeling accident. I was following my dad down a path, and I did'nt realize there was a metal rope blocking the path. I was going pretty fast and got clotheslined by the rope! I passed out so I'm not sure what happened. But I "woke up" in a puddle of mudd with blood every where and I could'nt breathe. Someone saw what happened from the road and called the ambulance. I must've fell backward on the bike and hit my head on the back bars, there was a huge dent in it!, and my head was bleeding profusely. I ended up with a 2 inch cut, all the way down to my skull, with stitches on the inside and staples on the outside. I had rope burn from under my chin all the way down to the top of my breasts and shoulders. Very painful! I guess I learned the hard way to wear a helmet!
