  • they do focus on natural beauty. unless you mean total nudity....
  • Because they would have a huge dearth of contestants.
  • Some do. There are glitz pageants that alot of people seem to think of with the fake hair, teeth, spray tan and all that. Then there are what is called "natural pageants" that let the girls just be themselves, no fake anything. My daughter has competed in pageants for several years. She enjoys the "natural pageants" and we stress the fact that it is more than just winning a crown. She has a title from the pageant and can use it to gain publicity for charities and fundraisers. She is currently working on a fundraiser with the local VFW. Pageants aren't all bad. It is just a stereotype that people have who no NOTHING about them. People need to educate themselves before making judgements.
  • Some do. I'd like to see more where the contestants aren't plastered with make up and have natural eyebrows instead of that horrible overplucked look that seems so popular. The whole idea of plucking is to neaten up the brows; not to make them look hideous.
  • I personally believe that us, U.S. Americans, like the way the beauty pageants are put togather and ran, such as, because with beauty, the wit also follows, such as.
  • Then all the make up companies would lose out on millions of sales so they wont allow that would they
  • Some do, its just that someone hasn't banned the fake ones. Fake smiles, Fake Hairdos, Fake Age Reporting, Fake Parents, Fake Pageants - you know the story drill.
  • Like the saying goes, "beauty is only skin-deep". There is a lot of truth in that phrase. Pageants want a winner that is not only beautiful on the outside, but also beautiful on the inside. After all, this person is going to represent several major companies and talk to a world of people, during her reign. Think about that.
  • I was watching the Miss America reality show today. I was amazed at how badly the makeup was done. The makeup detracted from most of the women instead of enhancing their beauty. It was garish and almost whorish. I wonder if they had the same makeup artist? I think women often need a little makeup to enhance their beauty. They need makeup for their features to stand out while on stage and in photos. It can go too far but I guess that's subjective.
  • Because that wouldn't help sell the make-up that sponsors them.
  • We're all already forced to focus on that at home.. no one would watch the show :/
  • "Oh!! I'm so proud of you!!You're right, it's not O.K., on younger women!!"
