How long do questions stay " New"

By new, I'm assuming you mean on the front page under the New Questions tab. They stay there until replaced by newer ones. If no questions are asked after it, it can stay there forever. There's room for eight questions. The time they spend there depends on the activity of the site.

Until they are answered. If you are talking about the home page viewing list, it is there until more questions have been asked to drop it off the screen. You can go to unanswered questions with the link at the bottom of the viewing window, "more unanswered questions" and see all the unanswered questions, there are thousands!!
