Then you need to have a SERIOUS conversation with your doctor. And drink a LOT of water.

If you drink a lot of milk and coffee or tea, they can combine to create kidney stones. But, being a vegetarian, I bet you don't drink a lot of milk. There must be something in your diet that's causing this...maybe vitamin or calcium supplements?

There is more calcium in soy, many green veggies and in beans than in milk so that could be a clue. But what about family history? Some people are more susceptible to forming kidney stones, and heredity certainly plays a role. The majority of kidney stones are made of calcium, and hypercalciuria (high levels of calcium in the urine), is a risk factor. The predisposition to high levels of calcium in the urine may be passed on from generation to generation. There are also regional "stone belts" with people living in the Southern United States, having an increased risk. This is probably because of the hot climate, since these people can get dehydrated, and their urine becomes more concentrated, allowing chemicals to come in closer contact and begin forming a stone. Or if you take a lot of over the counter meds like antacids that usually have a lot of calcium added.

As others have mentioned, drink alot of water. What does your Dr. say about it? Have you ever gone over your diet with a registered dietitian?
