  • You don't think its both creepy and cute at the same time? The only thing it needs is some animation: the center eye should glow every few seconds with a subtle greenish inner light.
  • Some of us like his avatar. I vote "No" on your question. No offense intended - but, aren't you acting like a bully here? I mean, if 100 people answer, "Yes" are you going to try and use that as a kind of "We don't like it, so change it!" pressure tactic? Would you make a public call for his avatar's immediate resignation? Replaced by an avatar that meets your approval? Will the kitten be allowed to meow in his own defense, or will he need an attorney to speak for him? Should I have coffee before I try and answer questions? ~~~~ Stableboy - I tried when I updated. Nothing happened. I tried it again just now and it works. Thanks! It was driving me crazy too. I'm thrilled I could help complete your life. Really. It's an honor. SquealingPig - Aw..I'm sorry. Didn't mean for you to feel like we were ganging up on you or something. I don't even drink coffee. I used that as a vehicle for ending the answer on a fast paced note - and to show the readers I knew my previous sentences were already silly. Basically poking fun at myself. It's hard to explain humor, though.
  • I don't really care for yours either, should you have to change it to please me? Looking at his avatar is voluntary. If it offends you, find any one of the miilions of websites he doesn't use it on and go there.
  • Smacks of Orwell. There's nothing offensive in that avatar. If you think there is, take a hard look at your own Nickname. It could be taken out of context and thought to imply animal cruelty. Food for thought.
  • I think you're getting a bit more heat on this than the question merits, but such is life. I think there's a bit of humor in the question that's getting missed by some. That's just the medium though: you gotta work within the limitations of this format to avoid misunderstandings. Humor often falls flat unless you have a solid relationship with someone and you target it specifically to that person. Worse, humor often gets misinterpreted if you aren't careful with it. (One of my enduring failures...) So yeah, the avatar creeps me out a bit. But I also think its a bit cute. And in any case, if you're serious about getting folks to gang up on him to pull it down, you will draw heat from the group.
  • I think we should all have whatever avatars we want. I don't think you meant the question in a malicious way, but everybody so far has raised valid points. btw, I never even noticed that it was a third eye, it just looked like a jewel to me.
  • This is the first time ive seen this Q posted, I recieved your email Squealing Pig and I have asked other AB members if they found any offense in my selection of an avatar, and you can get an idea of their responses herein. When selecting an avatar, I was very cautious in my selection, you should have seen the others I was considering prior to my final selection as they were far more disturbing than the third eye'd kitty. I chose this avatar because I felt that it reflected the personality of who I am, wise, reasonable, humorous, friendly and honest (...and for you lady's, cute and cuddley). The symbol of it all being what AB members could refer to as an Oracle to the Q&A they may pose to it. The Oracle ((Oracle; which is the affectionate name I dubbed the kitty.)) is sincere in it's responses and poses, and is meant to invoke curiosity and interest, without fear of persecution or reprocussions. The Oracle is simply meant to be a moniker of trust and dependibility for posted Q&A, it is also meant to calm the soul and spark wonderment, and open peoples minds to explore the esoteric, life, reason, common sense, wisdom, and the practical joke and humor of life itself. Thusly it is how people have come to know me...and how I have come to know them. If you see my avatar, you can expect that their is some honest feedback attached to it, assuring if anything, a review of the material contained therein may be worthwhile to those interested. I apologize if it makes you uncomfortable, maybe there is some underlying psychosis you may have against such visual images. - Thanks Jodie, ...I try to put as much thought as I can into everything I do...sometimes I may try to hard and overload the system...but the key word is try. It's nice to be trusted. Thank you all for your comments and A's.
  • I don't have a problem with it and I love cats. What exactly bothers you about it? There is one thing you can do if you really can't stand it and don't want to give up Answerbag. I use SeaMonkey (formerly called Mozilla) to browse the Internet and it has the option to block images from a particular source. If you want to go this route, you can download the program here http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ and install it. Open the program and go to Answerbag.com. Right click on someone's avatar and select "Block Images from this Server." You will no longer see any avatars and some of the Answerbag graphics will be missing but you will never have to worry about his kitty creeping you out again. If you prefer your old browser, just use SeaMonkey to visit Answerbag.
  • Can we? I guess we can, but no one wants to. Avatars make a visual statement, I guess, about what the owner (owner?) is like. Telling him you want him to change his avatar is almost like, I don't know, stepping over a line that should remain unstepped over. Intruding on a personal freedom. Gosh, Mr. SPig, I know you think it's creepy, but does it bother you all that much? Get a GRIP, man. It's a PICTURE. Whatever horrors you're seeing are not radiating from the kitten. The evil you see is only what the avatar reflects when you stare at it. Just like when you look into a mirror. The dude who returns your gaze is as scary, or as anything, as you think he is. In short, he's whatever you put into him. Same thing with the kitten. To me, the kitten looks like he's a little dingy. Maybe more than a little. That ought to tell you something!! Well, that's it. My work here is done. Have a nice day.
  • I like Sunblynd's fuzzball! Too bad the little fuzzball doesn't dance. :) (My avatar, like all of my pets, is already altered.) :) :)
  • Why should anyone have to change their avatar just because you dont like it? Just dont look at it if it hurts you that bad.
  • how do i get my own pic in here??
