First of all, work out if anything specific triggers your migraines, such as food products like chocolate, cheese, red wine, dairy etc. Keep a food diary and it is easier to see if any patterns emerge between foods you eat and the onset of migraines. If they are brought on by stress, you really need to make a lifestyle change. Take up gentle exercise and find ways of relaxing and switching off from whatever is stressing you out. Learn to recognise the signs of a migraine beginning. I feel lethargic and dizzy about 10 - 12 hours before getting a migraine, and a few hours before the pain starts my vision gets blurred and I get 'lights'. If you can take some pain killers before it starts or gets too severe you may be able to head it off. Otherwise, once a migraine has fully set in, I find lying down in a dark, quiet, cool room with a cold damp compress on my head helps. Sometimes the only way to deal with it is to sleep it off, though! Hope this helps.
