Are you sure his phobia isn't about comittment and he has found a handy scapegoat?
-
this may sound silly but if you just get up early in the morning and rest a ring on his nose while hes still asleep he won't notice until he wakes up and he will think "hey this isn't so bad".

I too suffer from a phobia of jewelry. Whatever you do...do NOT place a ring on his nose ;) As he will panic...it would be like you waking up with a giant camel spider on your tummy if you're afraid of spiders! As for him not getting engaged because of it...that i don't really get. You can get engaged without him wearing a ring...and if he can't go to a jewelry shop to get it (i feel ya buddy) then you can shop for it online which wont be super comfortable..but might be easier for him ;) I wish you all the best of luck... sarah

His phobia is not jewelry. You already have a pretty good clue. :)

He may have OCD, and I say this out of personal experience and understanding of the disorder...my b/f hates with a passion nail polish - and I respect the true disorder by not wearing it. Is he more "phobic" than normal about anything else? (Also, congrats on being together for so long - my bf and I are going to celebrate 6 years in November)

Hi ppl, thanks for all you answers... just for you information, my BF proposed just before Christmas and we are working on an alternative to a wedding band for him. Thanks again! :-)
