If you try to report a suspisious incident and it involves your home and the police aren't much help what should you do?

My fmaily had an incident where some ran up to our door pounidn gon it and then started shooting outside, when the cops came over they didnt really believe us. All we could ask is for them to check for any complaints that had happened in that area (there were some other odd incidents likes that) and we asked them (the neighborhood) to patrol the area more. On a security level, you'll ahve to do most of it yourself. I dont think theres much cops can do when they werent there to witness or stop it. I'd suggest you getting better locks or security cameras. JUst make sure you dont lock/pas your place up so much that you cantget in if youre acidently locked out.
