Why do boys start wearing tighty whities only to switch to boxers later? why not just start with boxers or keep the briefs?

My little guy doesn't care for boxers much. I guess he likes to feel supported. I'm sure he'll switch to boxers by the time he has to start changing in the locker room :)

The are both way outdated. The tight fitting briefs that have short sections down the leg are far preferable. No *looseness* like boxers and no irritation like tighties. Boxers and tighties are out the window for discriminating men and boys.

cuz my mom put themon me when i was a gu and my buddies just didnt want to feel constricted any more so i switched the tighty whity were NOT my decision

Well, when you wear briefs in the locker room or anywhere else, you are taunted by other kids. This is because "tighty whiteys" are considered more of a shy-unsecured-person underwear. Boxers are more of a cool-popular-kind-of-guy underwear. Boys change what they wear because they feel it'll make them more popular. Some people wear briefs because it is more comforting than having the riding boxers, while others feel boxers are better. When I was in 5th grade, I was taunted about wearing "tighty whiteys". To this day, I still wear them, but now I am ready to change to boxers.

Well boxers are 'the fad' and somehow briefs have become very 'homo' to younger guys and men. I love briefs and don't wear boxers but have actually been snickered at in the gym locker room and even called fag because of them. I still enjoy wearing them though.
