No ATT will only base the customers credit score on there existing service when they have postpaid service with them and that is only after having 6 months of postpaid service with them, having prepaid service will not act as the same this, so if you were to run a credit check with AT&T now to start postpaid service then it would run off your credit score and depending on your score your deposit could be from the range of 0$- 1000$ deposit that you would receive back after one year of good standing with AT&T. So that means no past due balances or no non pay suspensions, etc..

If they have Metro PCS in your area, that may be your best bet. No contract, no credit check and it's month to month. Their rates are also very competitive
