  • A scholarship for what? College? You need to fill out all the appropriate forms and submit them in time. You need to have intelligence and be hard working to get into a school that has need-blind admission and gives ample financial aid. Being a minority will help. Winning awards in school will help.
  • My experience has been that your ACT or SAT scores are the most important thing--more so than grades for getting loans and scholarships. Of course you need to keep your grade average at B or above. It also helps to have extracurricular activities, i.e. clubs, youth groups, hobbies, etc.

  • There are scholarships given for various different things. You can get them for financial need, being a minority, merit (good grades), community service, or athletics. You should create a profile on Fastweb.com. They will help you identify all of the scholarships you qualify for and they have links to the website of the person giving the scholarship for more information on applying.
  • A school willing to take you that is connected to grants and awards.
