yes -- specifically if you are using a non-Apple computer. It is possible for your computer to be infected with a trojan that will instruct your camera to switch on and store or transmit images. Most virus protection software should detect and clean any such malicious programming (or you could just switch to Apple)

Apple is just as vulnerable as any PC just less likely due to the fact that they are less popular. Linux is even less likely than any and is easier to use (in my opinion). Try Zone Alarm, it's a great firewall and blocks just about anything from getting in OR out unless you say other wise by granting permission for each file or program. Good luck!

just be sure web cam is off and lens cover is on. and on your messenger you can set the option's to not have web cam viewed. this allows you to choose who see your web cam and who does not.
