If Saddam ever gets executed, will it alleviate the insurgency or intensify it, and why?

I think it will intensify it, in fact, it could cause civil war. Saddam is a Sunni, and most of the insurgents are Sunni's -- and there is already fighting between Sunni's and Shiites. It would be a Shiite government that orders a death penalty... the Shiite's wouldn't have this power unless the USA had established the conditions for them to get power.. so many Sunni's will just see Saddam's killing as the murder of another Sunni with no justice done. The most recent count of Iraqi's killed due to the war is now higher than the numbers allegedly killed by Saddam's efforts to retain power -- so what does that say? George Bush should be tried next? That's unlikely and that would be even more infuriating to Sunni's, and anybody else interested in justice.
