  • 1963 Plymouth Valiant slant 6. Sat outside in ND and started every AM even if it was -35°. Out ran a 1965 283 chevy for top speed and got 23 MPG at 70+ miles per hr. Great mileage in those days when no one got even 20 MPG. A machanic I knew said you couldn't hurt that engine with a hammer.
  • Lexus GS 430 2003
  • In my case I'd define "best" as the vehicle that took the most abuse and still kept running. My first car was a 1988 Ford Ranger 4x4. I drove the wheels off of it for about 7 years. I used to take it offroading all the time. I logged a ton of highway miles. I loaded the thing up with heavy trailers and random other things. I ran a landscaping company for 3 summers when I was in highschool and university and I used the ranger. It outlasted a 3/4 ton GM diesel. The diesel could tow more but the engine blew apart. Here's an exaple of the abuse it took. My dad wanted to use these huge red sandstones for landscaping at his house so we hooked up a trailer and went to pick a couple of them up from his work. First we tried to put one of them in the back of the Ranger with a forklift. I was directing my dad as he lowered it into the box of the truck. The suspension slowly compressed all the way and then the front tires started to come off the ground. We went with plan B and tried to put the rock on the trailer and it was almost the same result except the rear bumper slowly bent until it was almost touching the ground. We decided it couldn't be done with the Ranger and my dad hired a crane to pick up the rocks. The crane operator told us that the rock we were trying to load was almost 6 tons. The truck itself was under 2 tons.
  • 2000 Toyota Solara.........period. I have owned at least 20 automobiles in my lifetime and the Toyota Solara is by far the best ever. I hate to brag, it usually comes with consequences. I will buy a new Solara, again. Almost 200,000 and still rolling.
  • ummm... the best car i ever owned is the one i've got now, Jaguar XF... before this i had a string of truely BAD cars!
  • The one i own now - a beautiful white Mercedez :)

  • The best car I ever had in terms of trouble-free running was a second-hand Toyota Camry. I had it for several years, and all I ever had to do was put petrol in and, on a couple of occasions, oil. It was the most reliable vehicle I've ever had. In terms of a great car to drive, my present car is brilliant. It is a 2.3 V5 Seat Toledo. It is very nippy, very well appointed, has light responsive steering and sports suspension. Also it is glued to the road. All in all a delight to drive. I would like to say it had been as reliable as the Toyota, but unfortunately that hasn't been the case.
