  • I wouldn't worry too much, everyones mind wanders in and out of conversation. Just be sure that he doesn't begin to make a habit out of it!
  • We all tend to form automatic behavior patterns which trigger themselves in response to different situations. It doesn't mean anything at all about your relationship with him. If you've ever had a habit get triggered in the wrong context (like turning on a light when you know the bulb is burned out) you'll understand. The mind automates lots of things to reduce the amount of detail it has to deal with. Its meaningless. But he should make an effort to break that habit, if he doesn't you should tell him that it bothers you.
  • Oh, heavens, my sister-in-law sometimes calls her husband Daddy (by mistake; they were both named Fred) and once she called ME Fred. Means absolutely nothing. I've done my share of public speaking and some of the mistakes I've heard myself make on the tape recording... Your boyfriend is just on automatic pilot, not paying full attention.
  • Hey sweetie, Never even give it a second thought. This is absolutely normal. It is just time that will erase that..All in time. Be patient, be kind and just laugh and say, OOPS..my name is....Its OK.. Ella in TEXAS
  • No, I don't think so. Some people just do this. My father does this with everyone's name - he's called me by my aunt's name, my brother by his uncle's name, and we've both been called by the dog's name on several occasions. I think he just tends to switch around "family" names when he's not paying attention to what he's saying. My advice is to laugh it off.
  • lol thats funny but i'd say no. Sometimes you just say whats on your mind when talking also it could just be habit seeing as it was his wife.
  • As long as it wasn't during sex I'd just ignore it
  • No, that is a subconscious response, don't read more in to it.
  • NEVER. my dad has been married for 10 years to my step mom and he goes to call her Carol or Ann...his first two wives...it's nothing personal. My dad doesn't even like my mother...he loves his wife. It happens. And my dad does it a lot too, he calls everyone the wrong name though.
  • No. I do it all the time, I mean I call my boyfriend my ex's name. Maybe not all the time but more than a couple.
  • In my opinion, .. no. You chose to date him, and I am assuming that you already knew about her. Therefore, you should get used to it if you want to stay with him, in case he ever does it again. Again, this is all my opinion.
