  • Shalom, Material goods do not lead to happiness. Self-esteem and happiness come from: 1) Good deeds - Volunteer, do community service, charitable acts 2) Strengthen your body - Exercise, practice martial arts, dance, or gymnastics. Follow a nutrition program 3) Strengthen your mind - Read, study, attend seminars and classes at hardware stores, colleges, churches, congregations, events, symposiums, etc. 4) Strengthen your soul - what do you believe in? • Blimey. If you think that self-worth is anything at all to do with material possessions, then you really do need to radically overhaul your philosophy of life. Try do help people less fortunate than yourself, and in that way you will come to appreciate how lucky you are and gain some sense of self-worth.
  • Think of what they are paying in gas. People with suburbans...yeesh.
  • Get a BMW or a Mercedes. Clearly you measure worth by material possesions. It would be a lot easier for you to get these things than change how you think about wealth and value.
  • Don't ever let something materialistic get you upset. There is nothing more enjoyable than helping the less fortunate. My family car is from 1996 and that is something I care less because family comes first. Have a great day and think about what makes you a better person.
  • You need to realize that those cars are heaps of s#*t. They are over engineered, unreliable and can cost a fortune to repair, and trust me you will be repairing them religiously. It is a myth that they are better cars. The braking can be slightly better then Jap cars, however the cost of maintenance and unreliability far out weigh the benefits. This particullarly applies if the car is over ten years old, chances are you're in for a LEMON. When I see people driving Euro cars, I have a laugh because because more often then not they are buying them for the name, and have no idea what they are in for in the ways of expenses. Not to mention breaking down on the motorway in peak hour traffic, as angry drivers tell your to move your bomb off the road, whilst giving you the international sign, leaving you stranded all because you wished you could have a second rate car with a fashionable name.
  • Better education = Better Job = Better Pay = Better Car
  • I guess I think about how much the car depreciated when they drove it off the lot, and every year, it's value goes down, yet their car payment is the same. I don't envy them at all. I think they are nuts for wasteing hard earned money. If you desire better self-esteem, then work on yourself and forget the objects. Props are for less then secure people anyway.
  • MMHHH not all are theirs,.. many people file for bankcruptcy due to their high profile life style.
  • If it makes you feel any better, all the people I respect the most drive shitty cars.
  • Instead of feeling worthless or bad about yourself over a materialistic object, maybe you should focus on the things that you do have..the things that matter..health family loved one happiness..etc etc..perhaps the person driving that luxury car, doesnt have those thing..you cant judge your worth in things and money.. :)
  • The luxurious cars all rust and dent like less expensive ones. Laugh that you aren't wasting your money on basic transportation.
  • Get a flippin bicycle and be proud that you're not contributing to global warming.
  • i drive a mercedes, and often get comments about it from others. i think a lot of it stems from jealousy! well here is something, i drive it because i enjoy it, i work bloddy hard at my job and this is the enjoyment i get..i enjoy it because i see it as my reward for my efforts. if you want something really bad instead of getting jealous, how about working towards a goal. PS: my first car was a Datsun 120Y. I saved up as a teenager for it and bought it for $600. The thrill I got from first driving that is far more superior than the Merc...
  • Work hard:-)
