From what I've heard septums are easy piercing. My tongue was completely painless. A lip frenulum, VCH, and tongue web would all be relatively painless. But piercing cartilage doesn't hurt too much, it's definately bearable. I've gone through it dozens of times, and the expectation is always worse than the actual pain. Just find a good shop and a good, friendly piercer who will put you at ease.

Anytime a needle goes through your skin to create a hole that wasn't there before, its going to hurt at least a little. However, your idea of pain and someone else's idea may be completely different. I personally have my normal ears, a belly ring and a VCH (vertical clit hood). I think my belly hurt the worst, and it was more the clamps then the actual needle. My VCH was just a really sharp pinch, over with in like 2 seconds. Basically, you just have to decide what you want pierced and make up your mind to go for it. Or I have heard that a product called EMLA cream can help numb an area before piercing, but I have never used it, and don't know much about it, but if you are that concerned about pain, it might be worth looking into.
