Neither. Unless it was clearly of the atomic/nuclear type (flash, then massive shockwave), I would assume it was a conventional explosive. If it were a nuclear weapon, I'd probably be dead before I made that decision.

Neither of these would be my first thought, actually. Much in the same way that if a car just ran over you, your first thought wouldn't be, "Hmmm, was that a Nissan or a Toyota?"
-
Neither one. I would think it was a bolt of lightning exploding a tree. We frequently have horribly storms here and it sounds like a war in the woods.
-
Nope. I'd wonder which student I pissed off and why he/she isn't using their brain for more productive (and quieter) things.
-
none. a car back firing
-
Neither, just my fireworks cache...

No, I'd guess a ruptured gas line or something less sinister. Atomic bomb? If an A-bomb exploded outside my house I'd have about a nanosecond to be surprised before I got vapourised.

Another meth house burned down, guess pushing the BBQ under it was not the best thing i have done today - called 911 two hours before the blast and they still have not arrived

Neither. I would think it was a lightening strike (lots of those around here), my daughter shooting fireworks too close to the house or my daughter and her BF target shooting with his shotgun. H-bomb or A-bomb would never occur to me because that close I would be instantly vaporized with no chance to wonder what it was.
