Yes. For starters, they could end the 'requirement' for 5'9" women to weigh 110-120 pounds. Why model clothing on women that don't physically resemble the population that will be BUYING the clothes? Instead, they should hire models that represent the population, forcing the clothing manufacturers to design clothing that will actually look good on the women buying them.

in all honesty, it's what the viewers and readers want to see . that's why it sells so much. look on the mags and try to count more than 10 that don't have the word "SEX" in big letters somewhere on the cover. it's really disgusting. until the majority can change it's standards, the torture that these poor girls put themselves through for attention and fame isn't going to change all that quick. truly upsetting IMHO

Things are starting to change a bit - one or two countries now banning models under a certain weight-for-height ratio for example. There are also several companies and modeling shows where models need to be much more representative of the average population. It seems to be part of human nature to want what is difficult to achieve. In the days/places where hunger ruled and meals hard to get, fatter women were considered the attractive ones. Nowadays food is everywhere you look and it's the slimmer women society (not just men) consider attractive.

you are already doing something about it by talking about and discussing it, and making is a social issue! Good for you. :-)
