  • Mammals, and most animals actually, are essentially hard-wired to eat as much as possible when they come across food. This is an adaptation because in their natural environment (the wild), animals have to catch their prey, meaning food is much more difficult to come by. Your cats are behaving that way because they know that you're likely to give them more food. It does NOT mean they actually need more food. Feed them the amount recommended by your veterinarian or whatever literature you've read. Don't feed them more, even when they beg. Your cats will become overweight or worse.
  • those cats have you trained well. i just feed my kitties morning and night. a half can in the morning a half can at night...one of them little purina style cans...small. otherwise they can catch what they want to eat. rodents or spiders or crickets.
  • dry or wet food? i feed mine dry food, i just leave a bowl of it out, and the cat eats whenever it's hungry
  • Find out how many calories your cats need per bodyweight and then give that to them once or twice a day. Be sure some of it is in wet food. You would not believe how much water a cat needs to help them digest dry kibbles. If possible do NOT feed them grains or gluten as cats have no way to digest them. So sometimes cats are eating but they aren't getting nutrients they need. They still feel hungry. We feed EVO brand catfood, both wet and dry and I"m amazed at how little food they eat, good thing, too because it's not cheap:-) On the average, a relatively active, nonpregnant, nonlactating, 8-lb adult cat requires about 30 calories per pound body weight daily.
  • maybe they have worms
