  • The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land and the final arbiter of the Constitution. Thus, they have the final say. However, the decision does not apply to the states as the law currently stands. Therefore, it is likely we will see a case come before the court to decide whether or not the 2nd Amendment is a fundamental right that applies to the states.
  • This is what they call precedent. There was never a law making gun ownership illegal in D.C. . It was deemed unconstitutional to "attempt" to make it illegal to own guns in D.C. . How you see this as unfortunate is beyond me. Why do the unfortunate actions of so few, make people think they need more laws. We dont need prevention. We need punishment so severe that people think twice before they act. Thank GOD now NO state can make it illegal to own guns.(precedent) more public executions please.
