  • That Depends on the writters thay could eventually grow up and then have kids which take thier place and thay can sit back and reminiss or give advise i believe that there are some "cartoons " that have a younger generation doing everything and the old characters just comment on things ** or thay could grow old, die and the commis would end. ;-}
  • I guess Shaggy and Scooby would be going crazy for Metamucil instead of Scooby Snacks.
  • There actually are comic strips that show the characters growing older. Two that come to mind are Gasoline Alley (is it still out there?) and For Better or For Worse. In FBOFW, I loved the part where John, the dentist husband, had a midlife crisis and went out and bought a red sports car.
  • another examples are: rugrats(they became teenagers), flinstones (where Pebbles and Bambam get married.
  • They would be much more involved and personal than what they are now. In TV shows new people are brought in to deal with aging actors or actors who move on. With animated illustrated characters that is not a problem so we would HAVE to stay with these same people over and over. The writing would be complicated too as previous events would have to remembered and become part of the character. So the good things are more complex stories and characters and if constructed properly an epic story that would captivate people for generations while also being a reflection of the time. Bad things would be that it would take a select few creators, has a huge opportunity for failure in many departments and is not as finaicailly sound as the current paradigm so no one will bother putting money into it.
