This may sound stupid but we had a '89 3.1 Liter and it has a sensor located in the air intake. When it would rain too hard or we went through a puddle enough to splash, it would get wet and the car would act crazy. We lived on the other side of a little creek so once we found out what was going on, we replaced that thing every couple of months. If that is it, get it from a chain store like Auto Zone and it is garaunteed for life so you only have to buy one. -Just a bad design on that little car.

Update Went to junk yard and got a MAP, TPS, & IAC. Replaced them one at a time. No change after replaceing them. Then remembered somthing about after replacing them you need to disconnect the battery so the EMC knows it is different. So I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes then restarted the car and it was perfect. The idle was at 750 rpms and no running bad. Let the car run for thirty minutes did some shut offs and restarts and still perfect. Not sure which one was bad but it is running perfect right now. Thanks for the help
