Yes, humans can easily move to other areas whereas the panther cannot. We can live in high rises that take up less land. Animals don't have an option like that.

Absolutely. I watched a documentary on the National Geographic channel this past weekend about the disappearance of major predators in our wilderness... and the effect it has on the ecosystem and terrain. It's mind-boggling. If anyone is interested, it's called "National Geographic's Strange Days on Planet Earth" and it's the third episode in the series, called "Predators". Very interesting documentary.
