  • A power surge or shortage.
  • Do you have automatic updates turned on? Sometimes major security patches require a reboot, which automatic updates will do for you.
  • I had this problem with a couple of computers. In one of them the computer would run normally and then it would just decide to shut down. It turned out to be a driver conflict between the wireless netwrk card driver and the video driver. In the other one my 15 yr old decided to fiddle with the back of his computer and managed to pull his wireless card out far enough that it was exxentially unplugged with the power on. It ruined the card and made his computer shut itself down any time it reconnected the motherboard unexpectedly.
