Oceans. There I can build sandcastles.

By the ocean I always wanted to live by the ocean someday maybe! :)
-
Ocean, hands down.
-
ocean for me - even the smell of it pleases me, and the sound of the gulls - ahh so relaxing.......
-
I would definitely want to live next to the ocean... imagine all the hot jainas over at the beach in their bikinis?!?!?! lol jk. definitely the ocean though because then you could always enjoy the beach whenever you want
-
I would prefer the mountains. But right now, I have the best of both: 2 kms from the Mediterranean Sea, 10 kms from the mountains!
-
I live by the ocean, so I guess I already picked!
-
I live about 5 blocks from the ocean but am lucky enough that it's the redwood coast so I kind of have the best of both worlds. If I had to choose only one it would be the ocean.
-
By the ocean.
-
The ocean it just 3minutes from my house. For me its THE best of the two. The mts. are 45-60 minutes away so i can always vist.
-
by the ocean near mountains. Where I live it is flatter than a pancake as far as you can see. It's dull.
-
OCEAN!!
-
I live by both, but i would choose ocean.
-
I am very close to both here, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would probably say in the mountains if there are lots of trees and a lake nearby. But then again, I love the cool ocean air especially when it brings in morning fog. OK, so I really can't decide. Now I'll be debating this all day in my head, as if I don't have enough voices in there already! Good question , Deni :-)
-
By an ocean. Definitely.
-
I'm equal distance from both where I live and I hardly ever go to the mountains except to get somewhere else. I go to the every chance I get! So, the answer is oceans!
-
I lived at the beach right overlooking the ocean for many years. Done that. I prefer the mountains.
-
Mountains, hands down.
-
I'd live by the ocean, and vacation in the mountains. Too much time in the mountains gives me claustrophobia.
-
I live by the mountains now...I adore the beach. So, the OCEAN! :D
-
I already live by a mountain lake!
-
mountains
-
i love beach...so by the ocean
-
by the ocean ... just the view of the ocean does wonders to my well-being and piece of mind ... ;-)
-
I love both but if I had to choose I'd have to go with the Mountains. I love to go hiking in the woods and all the things that you experience when in the Mountains--and if there's a lake nearby, then all the better!
-
Mountains for sure, with all the flood waters across the US. Run for the hills!
-
I had the same quandry when I was buying a house. I own a boat and love the ocean, but I hike & climb too, so I bought a home in the mountains that is only an hour fron the ocean... a perfect compromise for me! LOVE IT! Capt. Jim
-
Definitely the mountains. I'm not a big fan of the water. =]
-
oceans for sure.
-
Not a fair question for me. I live in Vancouver BC so I have the joy of them both right on my doorstep.
-
Fresh clean mountain air, i don't like the smell of the ocean. I lived in VA Beach for almost 4 years.
-
mountains of course.Of course i am from colorado
-
Ocean!
-
the ocean for sure
-
Mountains. I have this thing about mountains; I love gazing at the peaks. Takes your breath away. Oceans are wonderful as well, but their horizon becomes monotonous after a while.
-
Ok after 43 answers it is 14 for mountains 23 for oceans - I think. Its getting hard to keep up now LOL It was pretty even for awhile but the Ocean finally got it! Thanks for everyones answers...
-
As much as I love the mountains, I would prefer to live on either the atlantic coast, where I am now, or on the northwestern coast of the pacific, in longview, washington state, with my snuggle baby Rosie.
-
Definately the mountains because mountains + winter = snowboarding!!
-
The mountains because there is no flooding. The bad thing will probably be snow and an ample food source.
-
well I live about 50 miles from the mountain and about 2 1/2 hours to the ocean and my choose has always been that if I ever could I would have a vac. home right on the beach as nothing is more beautiful than sunsetting on the sea
-
Ocean. I don't like driving up a mountain to my house (had to do that once. I was terrified... Did I mention I'm scared of heights?) Ocean is so relaxing. I would love to live in Oregon by the ocean again...
-
The mountains, because they have more varied scenery.
-
i will be living up in the mountains next year in flagstaff arizona, its a beautiful place, but at the same time, i have a soft spot for the ocean. too hard to decide! lol

-
i pick the mountains any time. funny because i live in a place famous for its beaches, but i would rather buy a house in the mountains than close to the beach.
-
The ocean, It is so calm, I would rather it be at a less-populated beach though, like Oregon or Washington.
-
The ocean. And that is not even a choice for me. My body needs to be near water. I get wiggy when I live in the interior of the U.S. I will take Washington state...mountains next to the ocean :o)
-
throughout i have been living by the mountains and so would love to live by the ocean for a change..
-
My definition of "near" the ocean is probably different from your, but living in Denmark I doesn't really have a choice.. It's impossible to live more than max an hour away from the ocean, and there's no mountains here. I wouldn't mind living in some highlands though, like northern Scotland or somewhere similar ^^
-
Ocean FTW! I love the water.
-
Definitely the ocean!
-
Ocean. I love listening to running water while i fall asleep.
-
hands down.. MOUNTAINS!!!! fresh air, and i love the forrest <3
-
Ocean; I'm a man of the sea, love sailing, so relaxing.
-
Mountains! I never liked the sea well enough to be worth facing hurricanes, but I miss the mountains in Pennsylvania. I can well remember staying with my grandparents in Williamsport, PA in the summertime. I can remember how deliciously cool it was at night there, even in August. I can remember the cheering from South Williamsport when the Little League World Series was in town. I can remember fireworks at the Wheel Inn on the Fourth of July, and how the big ones would bang in that valley and echo back and forth. I remember long drives on woodland roads to identify birds and plants and trees and cool ferns in moist primeval soils. I remember taking a spotting light out at dusk to count pairs of eyes in the fields and see how many deer there were (we weren't hunters, it was legal as long as you didn't have a gun). I remember my grandparents lifelong wish to see a live wild bear, which they fulfilled right before they died. I miss mountains.

I live in the French Phillipines. aI live next to an ocean and a mountain range. Got the best of both worlds.
-
I would have to say ocean. I was up 10,000 feet in the mountains in Como Colorado, I was sick all the time and had a headach most of the time. After I came down, I was fine.
-
Mountains over looking the Ocean (I always liked Big Sur or Monterey ) but I do miss the sea (Since I live in the Mountains) 13 feet of snow last year just happy it didn't come down all at once ... ~Nemo~
