In the state of Nebraska, is it necessary to notify someone you're talking to on the phone that your conversation is being recorded? My fiance's ex-wife is very abusive towards both of us, and we just want a record of it.

I know for a fact that is perfectly legal to record a conversation without the consent of both parties. I had to go into a detectives office to do this so it is most definatly legal and will hold up in court as long as your specific with the questions pertaining to the information you will use against them.

I believe that is a federal issue, and yes, the recording of others is a no-no but only for legal use. You could listen to it later for your own pleasure but I don't think you could use it in a court setting.
