  • My sister-in law, at the time, stole my Social Security number, and used it, I didnt find out for a while, when I went to purchase my house, I found out then, it was taken care of in about 6 weeks, she was easy to find. She had the same exact name as me, she married my brother.
  • My CV was taken from a certain internet website before I got the job I am in now and I was getting these credit card statements through the letter box of the old house I use to live in... I was in debt of upto €5,000 a year ago but they caught the little (sh*ts) and they are now in jail for fraud..
  • Not full identity theft, credit card info twice. My wife noticed that within four hours of the same day we withdrew money in about six countries. Called the bank, they closed the account and it took about two weeks to get the mooney back and new cards.
  • It happened to a friend. The reality is that in modern day society, it is happening with increasing frequency and is much more of an invasive, dangerous problem than people are aware. It can take years to sort out a mess of that magnitude, especially when you take into account the issue of credit.
  • Well its been a year, and still not sorted out. I thought I had everything taken care of. I spent hours on the phone with creditors, collection agencies and credit bureaus. But things keep popping up still. To make sure your record is really "clear", think of the things that don't show up on your credit report-like home phones, cable service, electric and gas...thats where I got hit. These creeps had their home hooked up to all of those things in my name. They even paid the bill, for a while. Then they stopped, and those things were thrown into collections. Then finally I knew, because the collection agencies put it on my credit. Don't be surprised if the cops don't help either. They see so many of these that they brush it off once the criminal doesn't answer the door even one time. Its impossible to get someone to help, very sad. I don't know if I will ever be cleared.
