To become a tennis player, you should get some lessons by a trained professional for about a year or two. You should practise everyday at your local court (if you have one in your backyard, im buying it :-D). Watch videos about tennis, the history, the techniques etc. Keep practising, and call up some friends and teach them some basic tennis skills and play some pick up games. I don't know if that will make you like Sharapova or those good tennis players but it will most likely improve your tennis skills.

They said its late when Hewitt started and he was at his early teenage years. Most pro players started when they were toddlers. You are in your twenties, I think its far too late to win any tournament in the Atp or Wta.
