No. While I am personally a fan of his, and his style was very innovative when he first started, I don't think he is the best. Edit: The question asked if I thought EVH was the best. I gave my opinion. Whoever rated me down for my answer is a moron.

Eddie is amazing but not sure he is the best..
-
No, he's a great guitarist, but I'd still put Clapton, Hendrix, etc above him.
-
DUH!!!!
-
no way! Benji Madden is the best!!
-
no, there are plenty of guys who blow him and all the other guitarists people like to name-drop away. EVH is a shredder and while his style seemed amazing at the time, compared to shredders of today he could be considered primitive.
-
He revolutionized the way people play the guitar using techniques unheard of, in fact, in the earlier days, he often played his guitar solos with his back to the crowd so they couldn't see his technique. He is widely considered one of the best guitarists ever
-
No sorry I do not, he is good but certainly not the best Clapton, Hendrix, May SRV. Santana too many greats to call eddie the best EDIT Since you downrated me anyway Lindsey Buckingham and greg Alman are pretty good too I could go on.
-
No. Chuck Berry. listen to all of todays guitarists and compare to chuck berry. this man started it all back in the 50's. Everyone has copied his style, today, in one form or another. Roll Over Beethoven, Johnny B. Goode, Maybelline are all original chuck berry licks. he started it, he created it and everyone else has copied it. Even the The Beatles copied Chuck Berry.

he is an amasing guitarist but not what i think to be the best however i really do think that steve vai is ONE of the greatest. when you listen to his music he almost brings it to life eg. bad horsie off alien love secrets. how ever this is my personal view and my opinion
-
Yes, I do think he is the best. Not only because he transfers his classical influences to rock, but because is a "sound engineer". he creates his own sounds by building his own guitar infrastructures. ie insulates wiring with wax. and adds, aluminum foil to the inner working of the guitar to react to electrical wavelengths in particular ways.... yes, he is the best
-
Livung or dead? The best was Hendrix, then Clapton. Eddie is fantastic but not the best.

Andrés Torres Segovia, marqués de Salobreña (February 21, 1893 – June 3, 1987) was a Spanish classical guitarist, and later nobleman, born in Linares, Spain who is considered to be the father of the modern classical guitar movement by most modern music scholars. For lovers of classical spanish guitar, Andre Segovia was the tops. He didn't rock, but his fingering speed and techniques puts most electric guitar players to shame. See wikipedia for more details. I am sure their are some of you out there who are familiar with Segovia and would appreciate his being remembered.

OMGOSH! YES!

Hard to answer but is he in the top three? I would certainly think so.
-
I wouldnt say he is the best, people like Dimebag and Alexi Laiho can easily outplay him, but thats heavy metal so i guess you cant really compare them. Back in his time though, he was the best without a doubt, i honestly believed he topped Slash, Angus Young, and all the other rock guitarists.
-
No. My favorite guitarist is Johnny Winter. After that in order I guess it would be Jimmy Page, Clapton, Hendrix, and then Alvin Lee.
-
no!... not by a long shot ...yes he was good at one time but great no
-
I would NEVER say THE best... He may be rated ONE of the best, but I'd also not like to figure out which list - Top 3? Top 5? Top 10? etc. Not for me to decide. I think only expert guitarists could and should.
-
Hendrix was the best, closely followed by Eric Clapton.
