  • no! do not put black moores in a tropical fish tank. since tropical fish need a heated aquarium, the heat will stress out your black moores since they are coldwater fish. black moores should be kept with other goldfish and they are best kept in a cold water tank!
  • Yes. Black Moors get along with many types of fish and can be easily kept in a community aquarium. They can withstand cold temperatures, but they do well if kept between 65 to 72 degrees, with a pH of 7, in a tank no smaller than 10 gallons.
  • sepulvjl, is right. Black Moores are a COLD water fish. Putting them in a heated tank with "topical" fish will only stress out their immune system and make them much more likely to get sick and die.
  • My black moor got very sick at one point and it was recommended to be to put a heater in the tank at a temp of 26-27oC (78-80oF) He did develop white spot which was treated acordingly. Bubble (thats his name) has not been living in a tropical tank for a year, he is 3 years old, and the happiest i've seen him is in a tropical tank. It is important to have the black moor alone to start with and increase the temp slowly, approx 1oc a day (from room temp) till the tank reaches tropical temps and treat any sickness accordingly as soon as possible. Bubble now has tank mates, including 4 neon tetras, 4 guppies, a plecostomus, 2 angelfish,4 platys, 3 zebra danios, a japanese fighter fish and a silver shark. All the fish are happy. Some people say they can't be kept in tropical tanks, some say they can. It's a very sensitive subject with experianced fish keepers, but in my experiance I would say yes, you can keep a Black moor in a tropical tank. afterall, they do come from China and Japan, which are relatively warm countries.
  • No, goldfish need temperatures of 45-68. Tropical fish need temperatures of 70-80. It's not good for a fish to live outside the temperature range. Also tropical fish bite each other, especially with a foreign species like goldfish. They're just too different. You can do research on which ones are community fish, what kind of fish would get along with tropical ones.
  • As long as themperature is in the low 70F's and their is plenty of room then they should be okay together.
