Im trying to hunt for all the skulls in halo 3...Im doing the hunting on heroic diffuculty...when I found a skull on the first level...I pick it up and i didnt get the achievement...whats up?

only certain skulls count as achievements. The iron, black eye, tough luck, catch, fog, famine, thunderstorm, tilt, and mythic skulls all count as achievements. Any other skulls you may find do not count as achievements but do count towards finding all of the skulls which unlocks the hayabusa armor.

I had the same problem when I started finding the skulls. When you pick the skull up, immediately hit start and quit and save. That's how I got all of mine.

If you pick up the skull at the atart of the lvl you dont get an achievement for it but if you pick up the one at the end you get an achievement. It is still important to pick them all up even if you dont get achievements for them.

Yeah, some of them are silver skulls and the others are gold. Gold skulls unlock an achievement and make the game tougher. Silver skulls don't unlock achievements, and they just have cool affects, such as creating an explosion of confetti and cheering when you shoot a grunt in the head.
