  • Thank you for the important question. A child whose parent committed suicide is 30% more likely to attempt suicide him/herself. The answer is obvious that not having the parent is more detrimental to the child. Children are very resilient and can learn to cope with a parent who has mood swings. BUT, I think the important point is being overlooked. Mood swings can be treated. I know from personal experience since I'm bipolar. My children love me tremendously, and I gain a lot from that. I also take medication to stablize my moods which helps a great deal. You don't have to suffer alone. There is help available.
  • Knowing a bad parent is better than not knowing a parent at all.
