Yes... If he puts you on his insurance, his rate will go up. However, a way around that is to pay the difference to him. It will be MUCH cheaper that way, than getting your own vehicle and paying your own insurance. I realize that you and your BF will move in together soon, but until then you could do the difference thing on your Dad's insurance. You are going to be "rated up" until you turn 25 (I believe some companies charge less for girls over 21 or so) or until you get married (for many). They figure single young people (males, especially) take too many chances, so it costs more for them. Once married, you have "settled down" in their eyes, until you have an accident or get a speeding ticket (or two for some). Also certain cars are automatically "rated up", and damn near out of reach, insurance-wise, for most teens - for example, ANY type of sports car, etc. See if your Dad will go with the "difference" thing. When you move out and/or get your own car, he can drop you off his policy, which SHOULD drop it back down.

i shouldve noted that i will be on my own insurance, but they look at the other drivers in the household, thats what i meant reffering to
