  • Very much so. It applies for so many things!! Life's juourney is the one most people fail to appreciate through not "stopping to smell the roses" along the way as an example. This could the the start of a huge discussion, but would rather do that with a beer and the other person/people.
  • I do agree. I constantly catch myself getting uptight and doing that. When I relax and enjoy the moment entirely just for itself and not for what is going to happen an hour from now or next weekend, I have so much more fun and it seems to more often be those moments than the big events that are most sweet in our memories.
  • Actually, the opposite seems to ring true from my observation..so many people are always "striving" to get to the next place they never take time to enjoy "it" when they arrive..they're too busy involved in the striving for the next goal, then the next, and so on..I have had this conversation before with other AB members and they mostly feel the fun is in the journey, not in arriving. :)
  • Yes fully agree! :)
  • yeah nobody stops to smell the flowers
  • Yup, but I would say, "Too often we are so preoccupied with the destination, we forget to enjoy the journey." =]
  • Abbsolutely. I often think that the best part of our yearly out-of-state vacations is the actual travel between destinations. The actual arrival, to me, always feels a bit anticlimactic. Your theory also seems to apply to things we wish to acquire or goals we want to reach. Upon actually acquiring those things or goals, we soon become disatisfied and seek new acquisitions or goals. The fortunate person eventually realizes the futility of "seeking" and learns to enjoy the "here and now".
