  • I would consult a lawyer - it seems to me that the statute of limitations would apply.
  • Same thing happened to my dad. You need to contact Mass, send a copy of your driver's license and pay the ticket plus all the other fees. Just to warn ya its going to cost you an arm and a leg.
  • HI I have the same problem. How did it turn out? what did you do? Michelle
  • I'm trying to find out to. to date i only spoke with people from the district attorneys office. they don't know wath the law is. I've been on the phone for the registery for 4 hours then i hung up.
  • Look for a defense lawyer in mass that deals with small issues. They can possibly advise you on the course of action you need to take to rectify the situation. You also might have to appear in court in mass. Also, ignorance of the law is never a valid excuse.
  • 17 yrs? Wow, that's a long time for you not to know. I really don't find it a surprise that happened. You can't really expect them to believe you weren't aware of the ticket. Your license will always be suspended when you don't pay a ticket, you can even get a warrant for your arrest and be taken to jail. It's really not something new. But anyways, I would say to just see what you can do to correct all this by going with a lawyer.
  • Your common sense should have given you a red flag on the drivers license renewal. Surely, you did not think they would not check your drivers license number, before giving you another one. No one has to notify you of the suspension. if you did not pay your citation, what else can you expect?? Thanks to the wonderful world of computers, your unpaid speeding citation has followed you from Mass. to Florida. Don't expect to get a renewal, until your citation is paid. It will be a hefty fine, so expect it.
