Both Patti Page and Doris Day sang the song but I think Page sang it first.

Doris Day never recorded DOGGIE in the WINDOW. Patti Page took it to number one on Billboard and Cashbox in 1953 where it remained number 1 for 8 weeks. It was also part of a children's album and has been continuously been sung by Patti Page in concert to this day. Patti still performs at least an abbreviated version at every concert even in 2007. She recorded a reggae version for her 2005 children's album titled CHILD OF MINE. You can find it available and listen to a clip on Patti's website, WWW.MISSPATTIPAGE.COM. It is available in the original 1953 hit recording on at least 10 Patti Page cds, numerous compilation cds and on numerous Patti Page cds in rerecorded arrangements. If looking for the original, give a listen to the sound samples before purchasing. If the Cd is a Sony or Columbia label CD the recording is not original....and has no barks. The Mercury, Polygram, UNI versions are originals.
