If police issue crown victorias have v8 engines, do they get good gas mileage anyway? It must be expensive for police to drive around v8's all day long.

The Crown Victoria Police Interceptors get about 17-18 MPG in the city and 22 on the highway. If they write enough tickets, that means they are making money, doesn't it? So, they should be able to handle the expenses.

Most v8 engines do not have good gas mileage capabalities. I drive around in a 4 cylinder Toyota, and not once have I slapped my forehead and said, "I could have had a V8!"
