  • Hypothetical situation; Someone hypnotises you to intend to paint a cat, but tells you that your hand won't be able to help itself but to paint a dog. You start painting, and expect yourself to paint a cat, but as the picture emerges, it is a dog. You are confused. The result is a dog, the motivation was 'draw a cat'. That is why you look for motivation in action - because results may not always match motivation. I'll use a more relatable example. The parent of a child wants their child to be the best at a sport that they can be. They push their child to his/her limits, with bad consequences administered to the child for any mistakes. The child does as he/she is told. The childs motivation is the fear of being punished if he/she doesn't do what he/she is told; the childs result is the top of his sport class. He didn't necissarily want to be top of his sports class, he was subconsciously and psychologically forced into it. I'm unsure how well I am explaining this, but I hope it kind of answers your question.
