To be disappointed means feelings of sadness and possibly anger, to dissapoint leaves feelings of potential guilt, sadness, anger and humiliation, I'd rather be dissapointed.

Both are hard in their own ways, I couldn't possibly compare the two and say, yeah I'd rather be this then that. Both suck, and both are hard.

its harder to disapoint, i think, because then not only have you disappointed someone else, you have disappointed yourself for disappointing someone...
