harleys are not that loud from the factory. most are loud because people make them that way.If you purchase a new harley it will be sufficiently quiet. There are noise emission regulations they have to pass.

I bought my Harley 1979 FXS and when i rode it home with the stock pipes, i couldn't even hear the engine at all over the wind blowing through the helmet. That is when i hit about 60 mph.

I like thr road king but i might be partial.....as far as the wind you might be looking for a helmet change?I experance the same thing its alot better with a full face
