When you buy an mp3 player it comes with a cord to download music but does it give you the software to download the music or do you have to get it off of the internet?

depends on the brand, my ipod came with itunes but thats not always the case. All mp3 players will come with software to get the music on to the machine, but might not come with a service to buy / download music.
