No. My experience is that they will untie it and leave it zipped up but not retied. They don't have the time to redo it, I guess.

Not in my experience. They will just cut the tie and not replace it. Also, if your bag has been searched or inspected, they will almost always put a TSA sticker somewhere on the bag or leave a card inside the bag saying it has been inspected.

there is a web site that sell tsa approved locks . it is www.masterlocktsa.com

Purchase the TSA approved locks, you can get them at Wal-Mart relatively cheap. They will relock the TSA approved lock if your bag is opened.

No, if they see a ziptied bag, it will likely get additional screening. They need to be able to get in the bag. They will cut it and not replace the zip tie. There are locks now that are TSA approved, but I don't even trust the TSA to put them back on correctly. I have found about half a dozen of the locks laying around at baggage claim. At this point, travelers in the US are at the whim and mercy of the TSA. Keep in mind that in the past three years I've taken about 200 flights and have not had any serious problems (I was delayed for one flight and my bag made the flight, so my bag was waiting for me when I got there, and once they lost my bag for about 18 hours). My experience, it to use one of those strap things that wrap around the suitcase. They will undo it for inspection, then put it back on.
