Why are you so set against seeing a psychologist? If you broke your arm would you see a doctor? There's no shame in asking for help and the best person to help with your problem would be a qualified and experienced psychologist, surely? As a pschotherapist I can tell you that I have helped people with many types of emotional problems.anxiety/depression etc., Some people feel there is some sort of 'stigma' attached to anything psychologically amiss - there really is no foundation for such thinking as it doesn't imply 'madness' or anything else to be afraid of.

Is there a friend or relative who could help you get out of the house, accompany you to stores, and so forth? I went through this in the early 90's. It was brought on by extreme stress. I explained it to my Mom and she accompanied me everywhere for several weeks. Sometimes I would have to leave my cart in Walmart and go back to the car. I would feel like I was going to pass out. Finally I did get better. I took Paxil for a couple years. Now, I'm actually 'normal' again.

This doesn't compare to getting help but to lessen your anxiety I would suggest getting some Rescue Remedy. IT's a spray that you can use for moment so anxiety or when really unsettling things happen. It's even good on pets when they gt scared like from lightning or vet visits. It's by Bach's Flower remedies. You can find it at most health food stores. And you might look into trying a few of the Bach Florals, too.

You either attained this through bad things that happened in your childhood such as being rejected, or your relational skills are still in baby stages, or this is just the way you were built. Any which way, nothing states that you need to be the speaker of the house! Reach out and get honest about how it may have come to be.
