  • I take what I call my crazy pills. I don't take them everyday. I can usually control my anxiety/depression in a natural way, but some days I just cannot hang.
  • I do and I don't. If you are a teenager, I believe that mood stabilizers and anti-depressants are merely a way for adults to not face the hardships of dealing with a teenagers changers. If you are an adult, however, past the mid-twenties, I believe that they can really help you.
  • Maybe you need to get stabalized then you can work on changing your lifestyle so you wont need the pills as much.It is a medical condition. Take care of you!
  • I absolutely believe in mood stabilizers and anti- depressants. I am bi-polar, and without my Lamictal (mood stabilizer) life with me is absolutely miserable. With it I am normal, the way I am supposed to be. I still get good moods, and bad moods, and everything in-between. I am not a zombie, I just no longer lose control of myself.
  • Absolutely!!! Most depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain and the drugs that are prescribed help to even that out. My husband is on three different meds for his depression and I can most definately tell if he has not had his meds. I honestly don't believe depression can be treated without a drug regimen in conjunction with therapy.
  • You need to do your brain chemistry research. Look up serotonin and serotonin reuptake inhibitors. You get a better understand. Anti depressants are certainly logical once you understand how they work and the chemicals that control your moods and emotions work. Some people are chemically imbalanced, sometimes its genetic. These people need these meds to balance their chemicals out. Anyone that tells you that the pills dont work just doesn't understand the chemistry behind it. BUT, there are natural ways to induce the chemical production you need, it just takes way longer and you have to go through cognitive behavioral therapy as well.
  • What other people think doesn't matter, it's how you think and feel that matters. If you don't feel depressed, then you probably aren't. Your friends don't know what's going on inside your head or heart. Only you can experience that. If you can cope and search for solutions, and function properly without taking pills, then why should you take pills. There's so much information about these pills exacerbating the downward spiral, you'd be wise to avoid them as you are. Just yesterday I watched a show about a mother who is in prison now for killing her two kids as a result of anti-depressants she was prescribed. The FDA has issued warnings about these drugs causing suicidal thoughts readily available, as well as people seeking advice for how to get off of their addiction to these pills, as well. They are best avoided. http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/cgi/content/full/ajp;164/7/989
