  • do they not know your name? lol I'm not sure what it is. I think it's rude to not call someone by there name EVER. I mean Honey and Sweety is cute but not, "HEY MAN" my boyfriend gets mad when I call him Dude and I get mad when he says, "HEY!"
  • Sara, this person has always referred to me like this. She does not really ever express her feelings much and I am left "assuming" what our relationship is classified as. I am successful and very much into this person, but we have a terrible time trying to communicate. I like respect and with that, I like to be called by my name or hun or babe or something else, but not "Man"! Still confused...lol
  • I do the nick-name thing a lot, but it's always an individual thing. I'm just bad with real names. I don't think it's a power trip, s/he probably has no idea it annoys you, you should mention it. Just don't mention a power-trip possibility, because when people are accused of stuff like that they get defensive and that's how fights start.
  • In my experience the formal way to refer to someone is by using their name. However, in the internet and text messaging world it has been lost. "hey man", "hey sweetie" "hey stud" has been used for playful uses. But, if you are romantically involved and the person does not refer to you by name once in awhile it is the persons way of not getting too close. They like you, but doesn't like you enough to get that personal by calling you by your name.
